November 1st is the traditional deadline for early action (non-binding) and your application must b submitted be midnight tomorrow. Is yours complete? Not sure? Some application sites are great, clearly listing all the components of the application and indicating whether or not they are complete - those sites are a blessing.
But then there are the sites that have a vague listing of some of the application parts, but are unclear about receiving SAT scores, transcripts or recommendations. Now what do you do? Follow up! Check your College Board account and confirm that the score report request has been fulfilled. Then call or email the college and ensure that the transcript and recommendations are in hand. Beware that some colleges will not confirm letters of recommendation and suggest that you confirm with the sender. Do not wait until the last minute in case there is a problem!
However, you may luck out with some schoools. I recently spoke with Georgetown, they only require "student driven" materials to be submitted by Nov. 1st. Recommendations and transcripts are accepted after the deadline. That's great for Georgetown, but pleas don't think that's the norm. At WOASF, if your entire file isn't complete by the deadline, you are out of the running. Don't let that happen to you- follow up!
