Tuesday, November 28, 2017 - Institutional Scholarships

The December 1ST deadline is lurking. Perhaps this is the "early action/decision" deadline for your dream school.  Perhaps this is the first of the  "regular" decision deadlines. Maybe it is just an arbitrary date on the calendar.  But there is one thing you should know about Decmeber 1ST! It may be the SCHOLARSHIP deadline for your school! Most schools have institutional scholarships, awards that are given either solely based on your application, or use your application to move you into a group of potential candidates.  Many of these awards are based on academics, but some have other criteria; heritage, talent, area of study.  Whatever the case, don't miss out!

Let's face it, you probably have been working on an essay for some time, if not on your own than through your English class.  You also  may have a resume lying around that you had to do as part of an assignemnt. Hopefully, you have taken the SAT or ACT at LEAST once at this point (if not, refer to past blog installments), so what are you waiting for??

The information for your application is not really going to change between now and January.  Do you really want to spend your winter break doing college applications when so many of your friends are already recieving acceptance letters?  Bite the bullet and submit it already. Complete another rewrite on your essay, ask someone else to proof it, make a final version and go! Procrastination isn't going to improve your writing, but it may keep you from winning a scholarship.  In the words of Larry the Cable Guy- "Get 'er done!"

You've been to orientation and explored your dorm room, now it's time to think about how you're going to furnish it. More importantly, how are you going to get everything there without a UHaul?
